With no prescription drug currently available treatment of premature
ejaculation, most men suffering from this condition are at a loss on
the procedure for getting PE treatment. Nearly 30% of all men face
PE issues, but very few among them know what medicine to take.
The new medicine Priligy (dapoxetine hydrochloride), which has
already received approval in Finland and Sweden, is expected to ease
this confusion to a large extent. It is currently being reviewed for
approval by the FDA and the European Union.
Priligy or dapoxetine HCL as it is commonly known is a prescription
medicine and can be purchased only on the prescription of a
registered medical practitioner. The procedure for obtaining a
prescription requires the man suffering from PE to do a consultation
with a doctor. If the doctor finds it suitable, he/she will
prescribe Priligy.
The doctor’s guidelines should always be strictly followed for
treatment of PE with Priligy. According to the guideline issued by
the manufacturer, the Priligy pill should be taken with a full glass
of water at least 30 minutes before intercourse is expected.
Taking a prescription pill without medical advice should be avoided
as this could lead to other complications and side-effects. When you
do a consultation, the doctor generally checks for allergies and
drug interactions before giving a prescription. As a result, chances
of suffering from unwanted effects are greatly minimized.
The safety and effectiveness of Priligy as a medicine for treatment
of PE has been proven in multiple trials. In these trials, men
taking the 30mg dose experienced a 308% increase in time before
ejaculation, while men taking the 60mg dose experienced a 369%
increase. The only major side-effect found was nausea.
